High Impact Sports and Elite Athletics Introduce TackleSmart Football

High Impact Sports has partnered with Elite Athletics to create TackleSmart Football™. TackleSmart is a program that teaches youth athletes to play the game with proper techniques, while eliminating hard collisions and risk of injury. Our unique system helps young players transition from flag into full contact tackle football. TackleSmart players wear full pads and practice wrapping up players, without fully bringing them to the ground. By limiting the amount of contact while still providing live game scenarios, players can safely learn proper technique and build confidence on the field.

Along with team competition, our program provides elite performance training, and position-specific skill development through our MasterFlow Training System. The TackleSmart training program has been developed over a decade by Chris Rogers who is a former NFL football player and a youth school teacher, coach and performance trainer.

About Chris Rogers, Owner of Elite Athletics:

As the owner of Elite Athletics, Chris has trained hundreds of student athletes. He has placed over 25 student athletes in Division I,II, and III programs. He attended Howard University in the heart of DC. While attending Howard where he earned playing honors in football and track. Rogers later was an undrafted free agent for the Minnesota Vikings.

Though injuries sidelined his career, he continued to serve the Twin Cities. Chris has had a 20 year relationship with the Vikings Community and continues volunteering for activities and being a player ambassador to football. Chris began his coaching career at Edison High School in Northeast Minneapolis. He is currently the Special Education Lead at Kipp NorthStar Academy, and football coach at Providence Academy.

Our Initial Program and White Paper Research Study:

While launching our new program, we hope to evaluate how effective and safe TackleSmart is. Our initial pilot program will include up to 200 players grades 5th – 8th coming from various geographic areas of Minneapolis – St. Paul, Minnesota.

During the 8 week training program, each 2 hour session is divided equally between instructional training and scrimmaging where players are trained on the proper fundamentals of tackle football while eliminating hard collisions and risk of injury. Through this program we intend to demonstrate measurable player improvement over base line at the end of an 8 session development program, and to evaluate the safety of limited contact football.

MasterFlow Training System Integration:

The MasterFlow Training System™ is a combination of four disciplines including, leadership, LEAN Six Sigma process, sports programming and human development. The program has been built from a youth football training manual Chris authored that details and integrates position, unit, strategic team and game philosophy.

All players will have an initial baseline measurement across multiple skill areas by position. At the end of the 8 week program, each player will be reevaluated to assess their improvement. Our program development and research team includes many former college and professional athletes and a medical doctor.
