Youth Football Clinics with TackleSmart™

This June, TackleSmart will be holding clinics for players in grade 5 to high school. At our clinics, we’re teaching proper technique at each position, particularly tackling, so as to maximize skill development and ultimately effectiveness, while minimizing the risk of injury.

Our 2 day clinics combine elite performance training, human development, and position-specific skill development through our MasterFlow Training System™. The TackleSmart training program has been developed over a decade by Chris Rogers who is a former NFL football player and a youth school teacher, coach and performance trainer. The development team includes other former NFL players, college athletes and a medical doctor. Coaching certification is open to new coaches.

TackleSmart players practice wrapping up players, without fully bringing them to the ground. By limiting the amount of contact while still providing live game scenarios, players can safely learn proper technique and build confidence on the field. At the end of camp, players will receive a MasterFlow report charting their skill levels across several disciplines to play safe and effective football.

72% of High Impact Fastpitch Players Partially Offset Club Fees with Sports Angels

High Impact Fastpitch players have worked with Sports Angels over the last year to raise money to offset the costs of year round club Fastpitch softball. During their Goal Achievement Workshop earlier this year, High Impact Fastpitch players completed a business plan to help them generate funds through organized fundraising events and Sports Angels product distribution. Our players recently wrapped up their spring flower sale fundraiser with one of our players raising over $360. The team will have more opportunities this summer to offset significant portions of their club fees.

So far this year, 72% of our players have been able to partially offset their club fees by participating in Sports Angels activities. As we continue to expand the products and events available for our athletes throughout the year, we hope to make competitive youth sports a more inclusive community.

High Impact Sports Holds Second MasterFlow Training Certification

Earlier this month we held our second certification training session for our MasterFlow Training System™. During these sessions, our coaching staff is trained on how to utilize the model in order to fully develop our players. The MasterFlow Training System is based on principles from the Ohio State Situational Leadership Methods and LEAN Six Sigma Process Improvement. These concepts help our coaches create efficient practice and training sessions while applying the right leadership for each athlete.

High Impact Sports coaches are committed to helping all players succeed in setting and achieving their goals. Coaches in our system periodically review their players’ MasterFlow dashboards to make sure their progress remains on track. Our certification program helps the High Impact coaches, trainers and staff assist our players progress both as athletes and young adults!

Our team will continue holding sessions to certify coaches in the MasterFlow Training System™ throughout the year. As we add more coaches and players, this system will help us maintain consistent player development efforts and practice formats.

Positive Coaching Alliance Resource: Grit And Resiliency Learned In Sports Lasts For Life

High Impact coaches strive to develop qualities in our players that will help them reach their full potential in life. One of the greatest lessons that participation in youth sports can teach players is determination. Sports offer young adults a safe place to face adversity and develop perseverance.  In this short video from the Positive Coaching Alliance, Trent Redden the Assistant General Manager for the LA Clippers shares his advice on the lifelong importance of athletes learning grit.

“If coaches can help athletes build grit and resilience, Redden, shares, those athletes are set for life. As Redden shares, people have setbacks in both life and basketball, so what better place to learn those lessons then sports. Dealing with setbacks in sports not only improves athletic performance overtime, but coaches should pay particular importance to helping athletes deal with setbacks because that is a skill that is important for them in life, too.”
